On July 26, 2024, Mark Oldershaw, Executive Director, Region (ROHE) 3, Te Pūkenga – New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology. Bryan Read, Head of International, Innovation, and Industry Engagement, Te Pūkenga – New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology trading as Whitireia and WelTec. Shaun Li, Senior Advisor, International Strategy, Te Pūkenga – New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology trading as Whitireia and WelTec. Dean Rankin, Executive Dean, Faculty of Humanities & Business, Te Pūkenga – New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology trading as UCOL. A group of 4 people came to our school for exchange and discussion. Chen Li, Party Secretary of Our College, attended the symposium, and Key officials from the Party and Administrative Office, Human Resources Department, Admissions and Employment Department, School of Transportation and Information, School of Architecture and Surveying, and School of Continuing Education and International Communication and Exchange attended the symposium. The meeting was presided over by Liu Jing, Party Committee Member and Vice President of Our College.
Chen Li welcomed the guests, introduced the history of the school, the size of students, professional characteristics and the current situation of international exchange work, etc., and put forward the vision and prospect of the future work of jointly establishing Chinese-foreign cooperative educational institutions. Mark Oldershaw thanked the College for its warm reception and gave a brief introduction to the basic situation and advantages of Whitireia and WelTec. He expressed the hope that the cooperation could be used as an opportunity to strengthen people-to-people and cultural exchanges between the two School, and the two School could work together for mutual benefit and win-win results.
During the discussion, the two sides exchanged views on important issues that may be involved in the construction of institutions such as enrollment majors, school-running models, language training, and teacher selection and recruitment, and reached consensus on the direction of follow-up cooperation. The two sides signed the Agreement between Shaanxi College of Communications Technology and New Zealand Insitute of Skill and Technology as Whitireia and WelTec on jointly organizing Shaanxi Jiaotong Whitireia College, laying a good foundation for further development of Sino-foreign cooperative educational institutions in the future.
